ARCHITECTURE

In villages of the coffee region, it is observed architecture with a strong Hispanic element from the Spanish colonial architecture, expressed in common materials like bahareque. Domestic architecture is defined by houses with runners around the house adorned with openwork and carving wood, with several large rooms.

Within the special architecture are there parish churches built in the last decade of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, following a stylistic trend of European heritage known as the historical eclecticism. Within the religious temples you can find two styles the "classical" decoration, such as the temples of Watered down, Pácora, Salamina and Salento. And the "Gothic Revival" trend present in the cathedral and parish churches of the Immaculate Conception and Sacred Heart in Manizales, the Temple of San Jose Pereira, temples Chinchiná, Santa Rosa de Cabal, Sevilla, Calarca Guática and Marseilles.
